Nigerian singer Davido released an international collaboration tagged Fans Mi with MMG rapper Meek Mill on Tuesday.
1. Money well spent: Davido tagged the collaboration with Meek
Mill as his most expensive song/music video ever and few days later the
singer might have gotten the reward for the thousands of Dollars he’s
paid the Philly born rapper.
With Meek Mill being one of the most talked about rappers in the world right now (thanks to his relationship with Nicki Minaj), there is no better time to collaborate with Meeky. Davido found himself on platforms he will never get into on a normal day with majority of American culture sites featuring Fans Mi. Davido got on sites like HotNewHipHop, KarenCivil, HipHopDX, Complex, XXL, Miss Info to name a few.
This means more international recognition for the HKN chief although it set him back few bucks. He wouldn’t mind. Maybe if Wizkid had made it quick with his collaboration with Chris Brown he will be the one taking the shine.

Take for example, Sarkodie’s collaboration with Ace Hood, while Nigerians hailed his flow and punchlines, his home country Ghana don’t particularly like the song. Unlike Davido, Sarkodie failed to get on international websites having paid Ace Hood $25,000.
Toolz on Beat FM asked listeners their thought on Davido’s song with Meek Mill when she debuted it on Tuesday on her Afternoon program, most people rated it below 5/10.
3. Davido’s music is on a decline: Davido’s last hit single arrived February 1st 2014 which is almost a year and half ago.
The singer has since released several other singles including The Sound, Owo Ni Koko but none of them has particularly moved the shelf. With Davido planning to release his second studio album very soon, he needs that viral song to push numbers even higher or perhaps win Album of The Year for the first time?
4. His lines (verses) are getting weaker: While he is no Timi Dakolo, Davido usually has a catchy verse and often time catchy chorus but in recent times they have gotten weaker.
On Fans Mi, most of the lines the singer used are reminiscent of his debut single, Back When.
Davido’s hook on Back When “Back When i was broke yo… All the girls dey tell me no no” on Fans Mi “I remember when them girls no dey come around, i remember when i had no money in my bank account“.
Generally the theme of Fans Mi reminds us of Back When. Although in truth Davido was never broke, Davido always had money in his account. If he’s always been a ladies man is what we don’t know.
Perhaps it’s time for David to return to buying songs, after all he bought his last chart wrecking song (Aye).
5. Davido should release his album as soon as possible: So long the album is concluded. We believe Davido’s second album won’t arrive this month although June is the promised month.
With Davido getting more buzz than all Nigerian artistes, this is the right time. Fans Mi on 300,000 views in less than 3 days, he just graduated, he just welcomed a daughter, he threw a birthday bash for his baby mama, he shared a photo with his daughter and oh what is going on between him and Sira? Davido is the news right now. Another thing is if he continues to push back his overdue second album, he might get that Wizkid treatment. Wiz over-delayed his sophomore album and his fans got tired of waiting.
