The United States government said they are in support of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to make use of card readers in March 28 and April 11 elections.
This statement was issued on Thursday, March 19, 2015, by the US Embassy in Nigeria.
However, the Minister of Police Affairs, Mr Jelili Adesiyan, yesterday, March 19, 2015, in Osogbo during a PDP campaign rally , he said there was nothing wrong in the introduction of technology into the electoral process in the country but stressed that it must be well intentioned and not aimed at giving some candidates undue advantage over others.
He also said “It is good to have card readers for elections provided it is well intentioned. During the last year governorship election in Osun State, they cloned PVC from Lagos and used them here. But with the card reader such will be impossible,”
