A former president of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Mr. Aliyu Wabba, has emerged president of the Nigeria Labour Congress.
Mr. Wabba was elected early Saturday at the rescheduled delegates’ conference, which held at the Eagle Square, Abuja. He defeated his major contender, Joe Ajaero of the National Union of the Electricity Employees by 1695 to 1140 votes.
He will replace Abdulwaheed Omar, whose tenure as NLC President expired recently.
