Eminem casually reveals that he’s gay during an amusing (and obviously joking) scene in The Interview, the controversial Seth Rogen-James Franco comedy that was released this week amid threats by the hackers who infiltrated Sony. Check out the video below!
In the movie, Franco plays a celebrity interviewer and Rogen is his producer. Before the duo go on their assassination attempt adventure to North Korea (the film’s main plot, and the alleged reason for the hacking), Franco’s character sits down for a one-on-one with Eminem. At one point, the rapper nonchalantly says that he’s gay.
Eminem’s announcement shocks everyone, leading Franco’s character to ask for clarification. “I’m gay,” replies the rapper. “I’m a homosexual… I like men.” He says he’s “shocked people haven’t figured it out yet,” and then explains how he’s left a trail of clues in his lyrics. “It’s kind of like I’ve been playing gay peek-a-boo,” says Eminem.
The Interview opened in limited theatrical release on Christmas, following days of uncertainty after Sony initially pulled the movie entirely amid hacker threats. It has also been made available for streaming rental across several online platforms. The FBI has linked the “Guardians of Peace” hacking group to North Korea, although the country denies involvement. Check out the video of Eminem in The Interview below, and tell us what you think.
