A Saudi Arabian man has been granted a divorce on grounds that his wife consistently ignored his WhatsApp messages.
According to Gulf News , the man’s wife was always on her phone, keeping in touch with friends and family. Apparently trying to compete for her attention, he started sending her messages over WhatsApp. Despite receiving the messages loud and clear, the woman didn’t respond.
“I sent her messages on WhatsApp and knew she had read them because of the latest update on the application,” the man told Gulf News.
With the help of WhatsApp’s new feature, he could see that she had read the message but did not reply. He became worried and rushed home from work, only to find her relaxing watching TV and chatting with friends. At that point, he declared that he wanted a divorce.
