The defending champions played a 2-2 home draw against the Bafana Bafana of south Africa.

Trailing by two goals in the second half of the game, Super Eagles fought thier way back to draw the game with also two goals coming from substitute Sone Aluko in the 68th and 90th minute of the encounter.
