Former Nigerian Foreign Affairs Minister Dies at 66

Gbenga-Ashiru-dead 66-year-old Gbenga Ashiru is said to have died in the early hours of Saturday, November 29, after a long battle with cancer.


According to reports, former Foreign Affairs Minister, Gbenga Ashiru is dead.


The publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu said via Twitter:


“I’ve received the sad news of the death of Ex-Foreign Affairs Minister OTUNBA GBENGA ASHIRU, 66, in South Africa. May he Rest in Peace!”


The former minister had reportedly been battling a brain tumour which caused him to be hospitalized for over three months.


Ashiru served as a minister from 2011 to 2013 and was Nigeria’s ambassador to South Korea in 1991 and South Africa in 2005.


May his soul rest in peace.
