Back in May, Angelina Jolie confirmed that she was thinking about a movie with her fiance Brad Pitt. The project is now realized with Universal Pictures making an announcement on Friday, July 18.
Jolie wrote a screenplay for "By the Sea" in which she will direct and star. This would mark her and Pitt's first big-screen appearance together since 2005's "Mr and Mrs Smith". The longtime couple will also serve as executive producers.
"By the Sea" is described as an "intimate, character-driven drama" which reportedly focuses on a couple's relationship. No other details were released.
Jolie is in post-production of "Unbroken" which is also handled by Universal and is due to be released this Christmas. "I am very happy to continue my relationship with Donna [Langley, chairman of Universal Pictures] and the entire Universal team as I finish 'Unbroken' and begin work on 'By The Sea'," Jolie said in a statement. "They have created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker."
Pitt and Jolie reportedly scouted locations for the filming in Europe last month and landed their choice on Malta. However, it is not yet clear whether this would be for "By the Sea" (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
